Welcome

Sunday Morning Sermon, June 28th, 2020

Special Announcement (May 24th, 2020):

Greetings Flushing Alliance Church,

For the next several weeks, our gathering together will look different than what we’re used to, and due to the continuing circumstances of the coronavirus, it’s going to require a bit of loving sacrifice from everyone.

  • We will be resuming in-person gatherings for the first time on Sunday, May 31st, for our morning worship service at 11 am.
  • The Fellowship Hall & Family Life Center will not be in use at this time.
  • We will not yet be hosting our café or holding Sunday school classes.
  • Our nursery and junior church ministries are also on hold at this time.
  • We will be hosting Sunday evening prayer meetings.

What are we asking of you?

If you feel uncomfortable attending our service because of age or health conditions, or if you are exhibiting any cold or flu-like symptoms (or have been in close contact with someone who is), we’re asking you to please stay at home. For those who are both healthy and comfortable attending, we’re asking that, if possible, you would consider taking your temperature before leaving the house.

Masks are not mandatory but we want you to wear one if you’re more comfortable doing so.

Please enter the sanctuary through the doors closest to the restrooms and exit the doors at the front, by the flag, to ensure one-way foot traffic. This will also enable those who would like to bring their gifts in-person (rather than sending by mail or giving online) the option of placing them in the plate as we dismiss, because we will not be passing them as before. We will also have hand sanitizer available at the doors.

Consider arriving early (we recommend 10:30). If there are several people waiting outside the church entrance, we advise waiting a moment for some of them to enter, and once inside, avoid physical contact and being in close proximity with other people. Wave and smile, but please refrain from touching. We’re encouraging worshipers to spread out and take advantage of the space to avoid close contact as much as possible.

We’re asking that you be patient and flexible as we do our best to honor the Lord and resume the gathering, while doing what we can to ensure that we show love to one another through practical and sensible measures. Be willing to be inconvenienced for the good of the body as a whole.

Lastly (and perhaps most importantly), please be loving and kind to those who are handling this situation differently than you. Don’t look down on someone who feels it’s most loving to stay home, or, conversely, to gather together physically. Trust that your brother or sister in Christ is genuinely striving to love others, and give them the space to deal with this in a way that doesn’t harm their conscience.

Will other formats be offered?

Yes, there will be a Livestream of our service online via Facebook if that is the best option for you and the sermon will later be posted on our YouTube channel.

Please continue to pray for the Lord’s mercy in this, and that He would be glorified among His people in Flushing.

Grace & peace,

The elders of the Flushing Alliance Church

  • A Special Announcement on COVID-19

In a spirit of cooperation with requests from our state and federal governments, the Flushing Alliance Church is temporarily suspending all in-person gatherings and will not be meeting in our building for corporate worship. Our sermons will be posted to our homepage on Sunday mornings and will be avaialble for viewing at any time on our Youtube channel (click here). The elders and I are eager to return and will do everything in our power to stay connected and minister to you in the interim. If you have a prayer request or a need of any kind, please call the office (740.968.3911) or email me directly: pastornathan@flushingalliance.org.

To support our church's ministry, please consider giving online (click here) or sending your gift to our church office at 427 High St Flushing, OH 43977.

Pray for the health of our congregation, the wisdom of our government and healthcare officials, and that the peace of God that surpasses all understanding would guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus in the days to come (Philippians 4:7). Remember that Coronavirus will come and go, but Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The Kingdom of God is immovable and He must reign until every enemy is under His feet. The last enemy is death (1 Corinthians 15:25-26). Take precautions, and keep your confidence in the Lord Who is our fortress in the face of this and every trial. As we wash our hands, let us not neglect to wash one another’s feet. May we prayerfully consider how our church can use this temporary season as an opportunity for eternal things.

    Grace & peace,

    Pastor Nathan
